The Members AreaVets Trophy

With some 72 golfers playing in the Vets trophy, it was inevitable that some good scores would be seen.  And so it was for Ray Staniford who won the event with 48.5 points taking into account his game score of 42 points and then adding his "age points".

Brian Dangerfield was a close second with 48 points losing out by half a point on his "youthfulness".  Full results here.

Dress Codes

Rule 4 of the Club's Dress Rules stipulates that: When receiving a 'presentation' from the Captain, gentlemen must wear jacket and tie.  To ignore this rule is, in effect, being disrespectful to the Captain and to the Club.  As a matter of bringing this to the attention of all members, the Captain allowed those members winning prizes in the Vets Trophy, and not suitably dressed, to receive their prizes in order to highlight and hopefully educate the members of our dress rules.  Future occasions will not be tolerated with the same leniency.

Winners Dick Blything & Paul SlatterDickies Delight

Saturday 24th July

The Gentlemen's Invitation Day saw good support in this 27-hole event.  A 9-hole greensomes Stableford in the morning and an 18 hole better ball stableford in the afternoon.

Dick Blything and his guest, Paul Slatter, (Donnington Grove) won the afternoon event with a score of 43 points (15 on back 6) on count back from Francis Wicks and his guest, Chris Solly, (Bearwood Lakes).  The morning event had prizes for both the front and back nines.  Full results here.
