Members' News Update Spring 2008

The Board of Directors wish to inform all Members

of the following points of interest:

Hole 1

You will have noticed that more trees have been planted on the 1st hole.  Another copse between the two left-hand bunkers is planned to complete this phase.

Play will continue for the foreseeable future from the current forward Yellow Tee and work to improve that area is in hand.

Consideration remains ongoing with a view to moving part of the 1st Tee down and across, towards the 7th Tee, in accordance with the professional advice we received and our own experiences on the 13th Tee.

The green lines are part of the Tee realignment per our consultant's advice.

Hole 15

As with the 1st, trees have been planted as the first phase of framing this fairway.  Additionally, clearance of the scrub to the right of the 14th Green and 15th Tee will be carried out in accordance with our Tree Management Programme.

Greenly Land

Our consultants, Broadway Malyan, remain in contact with West Berkshire Council and continue to update us with planning permissions and government legislation.  We will, naturally, keep you informed of any potential developments.

House

Roller blinds and dress curtains have been ordered for the lower lounge to complete the lounge project.

Bar Prices & Policy

Effective from the 1st February, there will be an increase of an average of 5% across the board due to price increases from our suppliers over the past year.

Subsequently, any increases from our suppliers will be passed on immediately in order to avoid future block increases.

Membership

Five-day members will be offered the opportunity for promotion as per the Christmas/Subs renewal notice with regard to vacancies.

Five-day Members' playing concessions in the 20 Section events on a Saturday Morning have been withdrawn along with playing after 2pm on a Saturday in the winter.

Subject to vacancies, it has been agreed that golfers wishing to join Calcot Park who have a handicap of 24 or less, and are Members of an EGU Affiliated Club, will be offered Full Membership.  However, they will not get preference over a current Five-day Member Awaiting Promotion.
